13th Oct, 2004: My car was towed???
Last night all the parking space near my apartment was parked. So I had to park a little bit far from the building which I think it's alright. Until today when I was going to International grocery store with my friend I found that my car was gone!!! I was like...oh my ...where's my car. The towing company said it's not my apartment parking lot. Across the alley there's a sign said my apartment parking...I'm really disappointed..I had to pay for $55 for the fine to get my car back. Plus my friend was waiting on the street for 20mins. It's very cold today. I feel really sorry for my friend. Anyway he's a guy. He has to be strong. I went to international grocery store finally. Yes!!! Great. I bought some curry, real rice, dumplings, and bulgogi sauce. I can make awesome food from now on. I really like the rice...it's superb. Bravo!!!! I talked with the owner of the store, she agrees that american rice suits for american. Because they don't know what asian rice is all about. I just made an experiment today. I found that my rice cooker is completely fine. It doesn't stick rice. But when I cooked american rice. The rice was so dry no matter how much extra water I put into it. It burnt. Today I used asian rice. It wasn't dry at all. Just perfect mix. I'm happy now.

That's terrible about your car. I think the landlords in Carbondale must have some deal with the towing company.
Where I live on the south side of Carbondale, we cannot have guests after 11:30 p.m. without getting them a guest parking pass. And the landlords' employees come out every single night with a tow-truck to check. It is really crazy.
Glad you found an international grocery store. Can I ask where you found it?
Yeah sure. Larry towing company..That's the towing company. I was mad about that. The first time that my car got towed was in Chicago. It was a very unpleasant experience. I didn't have any cash to pay for the parking near the United Center. I was there for a concert with my friend. We were late because I got lost. I didn't want to go back and find an ATM. So I parked at the apartment parking lot nearby. I was just too stupid to let people tow my car away. After the concert it was 1AM in the morning. My car was gone...what could I do..I was lucky that I met somebody that was willing to help me to get my car back. The lady said the towing company comes by the apartments and look for illegal parking during those shows and events. I was speechless...stunned by that. The fine is pretty deep...$155..gosh that's a lot. What a money sucking towing company. The worst thing is my car had a low battery at that time. I still don't know how could that happen. Again the towing company offers their customer and jumper cord kit for $60. Fortunately a year ago my friend bought the kit for my car, so I didn't have to worry about that. The lady who gave me a ride helped me to start up my car. Man...I'm telling you that towing company is huge. It's more like a police impound lot. Oh well..Chicago who knows.
